Bangladesh's hopes of winning the first session of the day took a major hit when spinner Mehedi Hasan failed to run-out Murali Vijay earlier today. In the exchange, Vijay, along with partner Cheteshwar Pujara, was left stranded at the striker's end but somehow Bangladesh were unable to capitalize.

After Taskin Ahmed dismissed KL Rahul in the very first over of the Test match, India recovered quickly through Vijay and Pujara. However, in the 19th over with the score at 66/1, Vijay guided a ball towards square leg and Kamrul Islam Rabbi put in a good dive to put pressure on the batsmen. Pujara had already crossed half the length of the pitch when Rabbi got the ball under control.

With both batsmen at the striker's end, Vijay decided to take the selfless route and made a dash towards the danger end. Rabbi's throw was straight at Hasan, but the ball bounced out of the latter's hands and Vijay as given another lifeline.

The Indian duo managed to recover from the lapse of concentration as they guided India through the first session without any further damage. At the Lunch break, India entered the dressing room with a respectable score of 86/1 with 27 overs played.
