Bhuvneshwar and Bumrah upgraded to A+ category in new BCCI pay grade list

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah were upgraded to the new A+ pay grade in BCCI contracts effective from October this year to September 2018. The BCCI also introduced a new grade C for women cricketers and has also hiked the match fees of domestic players by 200% for the next season.

BCCI on Wednesday released its pay grade for the 2018-19 season which included a newly introduced A+ grade for the men’s team and a C grade for the women's team. The BCCI also hiked the salaries of the domestic players by 200% for the next season. The introduction of the new grade in the men’s team saw the inclusion of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah who have been upgraded to the new grade from their previous B pay grade.

Jasprit Bumrah has picked up a total of 65 wickets across all format in the last one year. Bhuvneshwar managed to scalp 44 wickets in the 34 matches across all formats last year. Due to their superb performance in the last one year, they have been added to the list of A+ grade players along with Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan who are set to earn 7 crores annually.

The grade A comprises of MS Dhoni, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Wriddhiman Saha, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Ajinkya Rahane who will earn 5 crores a year.

Umesh Yadav, KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Hardik Pandya, Ishant Sharma, and Dinesh Karthik complete the grade B and will earn 3 crores annually.

Suresh Raina, Kedar Jadhav, Manish Pandey, Axar Patel, Karun Nair, Parthiv Patel, Jayant Yadav were added in the grade C which will make them earn 1 crore annually.

The BCCI introduced a grade C for the women’s team this year.

The players in grade A will earn 50 lakhs annually, grade B members will earn 30 lakhs a year, and grade C players will earn 10 lakhs per match.

The fee for domestic players increased 200% to 35,000 for a member in the playing 11 and 17,500 for the player making the reserves. The women playing in the starting 11 will earn 12,500 per game whereas the reserves will earn 6,350 per game. The domestic fee charge for the T20 games would be 50% of the regular match fee charge.
