PCB raises complaint to ICC on host broadcaster's Indo-Pak World Cup commercial

Pakistan Cricket Board has launched a complaint at the International Cricket Council about a television commercial (TVC) by host broadcaster which they have found 'objectionable'. According to ToI, the ICC has already spoken to the host broadcaster on this issue and is expecting more sane TVCs.

To do their build-up to Sunday's much-awaited encounter between India and Pakistan, Star Sports released a TVC as an extension of the 'Mauka Mauka' advertisement. The context of the advertisement was firmly focussing on Pakistan losing all six World Cup encounters till date and while everything about that was fine, the way things were projected made a very bad impression and PCB raised a complaint on the same.

"Yes, Ehsan Mani on behalf of PCB has intimated the ICC raising objection on the content of the TVC. I am not sure if Mani has written a letter or had a telephonic conversation but we have come to know that an objection has been raised," a senior BCCI official privy to the controversy told PTI on condition of anonymity.

For the global body, the bigger issue is the build-up to the Bangladesh game and they are hoping that there won't be any more TVCs that create unnecessary controversy ahead of the clash of continental rivals.
