Reports | Paul Pogba set to stay at Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has assured the club that he will not split the dressing room this season. He has confirmed that he will stay committed to the club’s interests, after it was reported that Real Madrid were actively looking forward to bring him to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba has endured a tumultuous transfer window, with him heavily linked with a move away. To make things worse his agent, Mino Raiola and brother, Matthias Pogba have added fuel to the fire by publicly stating that the World Cup winner is willing to leave. Both Juventus and Real Madrid were interested, but with Manchester United not buying a replacement, Pogba has stayed put.

Instead, Red Devils boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has indicated that the 26-year-old is now a serious contender for the captain’s armband. This comes on the back of Pogba’s impressive displays during the club’s pre-season friendlies. Solskjaer also added that veteran full-back Ashley Young will be the club captain this season, whenever he is “on the pitch”.

Pogba himself did not have much to say but reports have revealed that the former Juventus player respects the club’s decision to not sell him. Solskjaer has held numerous talks with the midfielder during pre-season, and that reportedly won him over. The former United striker was worried that Pogba’s presence in the dressing room could become a matter of concern and breed a toxic environment at the club.

A United source has reported that Pogba is “a world-class midfielder with an attitude and approach during pre-season that has been superb.” The club believes that they have convinced last season’s top scorer to stay at Manchester, at least for this season.
