Sergio Aguero’s injury could be very bad, confesses Pep Guardiola

Pep Guardiola has revealed that Sergio Aguero’s injury could potentially be very serious and fears that the Argentine could miss a significant amount of time. The 31-year-old has been amongst Cityzens’ best players ever and a key man as the club look to win its third title in as many years.

Despite a well-fought 2-1 win against Chelsea, Manchester City were forced into making three substitutions well ahead of time with all three down to injuries. It meant that David Silva, Rodrigo, and Sergio Aguero walked off the field limping which caused more than a few problems for the Cityzens towards the end of the game.

But more importantly, with Aymeric Laporte already out injured and Nicolas Otamendi still recovering, Pep Guardiola’s side has been plagued with injuries. And to make things even worse, Guardiola went on to admit that Aguero’s injury might potentially be very serious and revealed that a proper scan needs to be taken before the club makes a decision on any replacement. The former Barcelona manager also added that both Rodri and David Silva’s injuries were only cramps with the two potentially ready to play their next game.

"I think Sergio will be bad. The doctor will have to look, he thought it was a kick, but it's maybe he has strained something. But we will see tomorrow. The feeling is if it is muscular, we are going to lose him in the toughest period of the season, but it is what it is. We have young players and we will try,” Guardiola told Sky Sports.

“With Rodri and David Silva, they were problems with cramp, and they were tired. Rodri is a month and a half without playing games. David after the international break didn't train too much and after these games you need some rhythm in your legs. These games are so demanding and that's why it happened."
