Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag star in Ben Stokes' All Time Best XI
Ben Stokes included Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag in his All-Time Best XI team which featured Alastair Cook as the captain. As far as the big debate about which spinner to pick, the Englishman chose to go with Australian great Shane Warne over Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan.
Ben Stokes emerged as the most expensive player in this year's IPL auction pocketing a cool Rs. 14.5 crores. Stokes was asked to pick his favorite XI for the All-Time best team to Red Bull. For his opening pair, Stokes opted to pick explosive Indian batsman Virender Sehwag and former England Test captain Alastair Cook to start the innings for his dream team.
"I'd have Sehwag as one of my openers. I reckon he averaged about 50 in his career (49.34), and his strike rate was probably in the 80s(82.23). "He made fast bowlers look medium pace when he was at the crease. He pulled them in front of square, behind square, for six, and he was just a tough nut," stated Stokes on Ponting.
The English all-rounder picked just one of his kind in his team but picked arguably the greatest one of them all in the form of West Indian legend Sir Garfield Sobers. Justifying his selection, Stokes said that it was important to have someone in the team from a bygone era as such Sobers became the easy choice. For the
Hailing from a place where
"Shane Warne is my spinner and he can come down and make a few runs when I need him to as well. 700 wickets, a few decent runs down the order and a great slip fielder, so he can in at number 8," remarked Stokes.
"That Dale Steyn bloke- he is alright, isn't he?" Stokes said on Steyn but reserved special praise for fellow Englishman Anderson stating, "The best bowler I have ever seen
