Virat Kohli has said that he is not going to take the field in the IPL till he is “120 percent fit” prioritizing the Champions Trophy over the cash-rich T20 league. Kohli was injured in the recently concluded India-Australia series where he landed awkwardly on his shoulder in the third Test.

RCB, who are led by Kohli, had said that the 28-year-old would return to the team as soon as possible but Kohli's statement suggests that he is not ready to risk India's Champions Trophy campaign, starting June 1, for the IPL.

“The priority is Indian cricket with the Champions Trophy coming up and I don’t want to take any risks. I have not set any date and I will only return when I am 120 percent fit. Having said that, I would like to return onfield as soon as possible,” Kohli said during RCB’s opening match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, reported PTI.

Kohli, who missed his first Test in Dharmsala in over 50 Tests, claimed that even though he was forced to sit out of the final Test, he is still not mentally ready to sit on the sidelines.

“I would say I have not got a bit used to it as I have already missed a Test match. But it is frustrating that you can’t play because of injury on just one part of your body,” Kohli added.

Kohli's RCB suffered a 35-run defeat in the first match of the IPL thanks to the heroics of Yuvraj Singh, who scored 62 off just 27 balls to take SRH past the 200-run mark. Kohli, however, said that he was happy to see the 35-year-old regain his form as it would be really helpful for the National team.

“As I said the priority is Indian cricket. He got a hundred against England and also got runs in Kolkata. The confidence has just rubbed off,” Kohli concluded.
