India vs England | Ashwin and Jadeja rested for T20I series
Spinning duo Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have been excluded from the three-match Twenty20 International series against England to give them some much-deserved rest after the England series. Both players are expected to return to the Test team for the match against Bangladesh on Feb 9.
India will play a one-off Test against Bangladesh in Hyderabad from February 9 to 13 and are then scheduled to play Australia in a four-match Test series from February 23. Due to their heavy workload in the Test series, the spinning duo
Ashwin bowled around 150 overs in the 3-0 clean-sweep of New Zealand and more than 300 overs in the 4-0 win against England in the five-match Test series. He was the most successful bowler in both the series claiming 27 and 28 wickets respectively. Similarly, Ravindra Jadeja had taken 14 and 26 wickets against New Zealand and England respectively. Between them, they accounted for nearly 60% of the overs bowled by all Indian bowlers during those eight matches.
The pair had mixed success in the limited-over series against England and the management is mulling the break with the larger picture in mind. India may try out a couple of other spinners in the T20 series, keeping an eye on the future.
