WATCH | Jason Holder falls victim to Dhoni-Ashwin's trick
Jason Holder became a victim to MS Dhoni and Ravichandran Ashwin's "wide ball" trick when the off-spinner deceived the Windies skipper which resulted in his stumping. India thrashed the hosts by 93 runs after posting a competitive total of 251 courtesy scintillating knocks from Dhoni and Jadhav.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli brought Ravichandran Ashwin into the attack to further pressurize the Windies batsmen after the home side had lost 4 wickets at just 69. However, Ashwin's first wicket, out of the three he scalped in the match, came off a wide ball. Ashwin started his spell with leg-breaks in the 17th over and Jason Holder fell for the trick when he stepped out to play a leg-break to the on-side.
Ashwin, however, cleverly bowled an off-break towards the leg side which resulted in the Windies skipper missing the delivery completely which ended in Dhoni's gloves behind the stumps which sealed his fate as the 35-year old whipped the bails off in a flash and confidently started appealing for a wicket.
Holder had just taken one step and was expected to make his ground owing to his height and long legs. However, the decision was sent upstairs and the replays showed the Windies skipper's foot was still in the air as Dhoni dislodged the bails. Another vintage Dhoni move after his signature finish with the bat brought immense joy to his fans and the veteran once again proved that it wouldn't be correct to write him off as of now.
