ICC Women's World Cup | India out to defend perfect record against Pakistan

India’s women’s cricket team will be looking to make it ten wins out of ten against their Pakistani counterparts when they take on their arch-rivals in ICC Women’s World Cup in England today. India currently holds a perfect record against Pakistan, having beaten them on 9 times previously.

An Indo-Pak encounter is always one to watch out for. However, India’s women’s team has more than just bragging rights to play for when they take on Pakistan at Derby today. India will be looking to continue to assert their authority over Pakistan and look in prime form to do so.

Heading into their third World Cup fixture, India have won both their matches so far, beating England women by 35 runs on the opening day of the tournament and West Indies by 7 wickets on Thursday. While Pakistan, on the other hand, are winless in the tournament so far, losing the first to South Africa by three wickets and the second to hosts England by 107 runs. What puts even more pressure on Pakistan is the fact that they face Australia next, which makes the game against India even more crucial from their point of view. 

However, history is not on Pakistan side either as the traditional rivals have met each other on nine occasions in the past in the ODI format and Pakistan never managed to beat India. What makes things even worse for Pakistan is that India have defeated them by more than 100 runs in four of the nine games, so far.

While they will will be more than eager to change the record this time, the Mithali Raj-led team will not give them an inch for sure.
