Sri Lankan pacer Lahiru Kumara was at his best and his worst all in a span of six deliveries against India on the first day of the Galle Test today. The 20-year old gave away two boundaries, bowled a beamer and almost produced a wicket in the 14th over of the Indian innings.

Sri Lanka were struggling against India when Lahiru Kumara was brought into the attack to scalp a wicket for the hosts. The 20-year old started strongly bowling a tight first delivery which was driven by Cheteshwar Pujara straight to Rangana Hearth. However, the stand-in skipper was not up for the task and the ball went past him fetching India three runs off the first delivery.

The second delivery was a short one but lacked the pace to surprise the batsman and Shikhar Dhawan easily pulled it for a boundary to fine leg. The third delivery was lobbed in the air by Dhawan but fell in no man's land which was followed by a delivery straying on the leg that was again dismissed to the boundary by the Delhi batsman.

The sixth delivery bowled by the 20-year old was a batsman's nightmare as a beamer writhed past Dhawan's ear to the wicketkeeper and was declared a no ball by the umpire. The final delivery was a beauty forcing Dhawan to poke at it and the Indian southpaw edged it to Asela Gunaratne at the second slip who not only dropped the catch but also hurt his thumb to be ruled out of the match ending an over full of ups and downs for both the teams.
