After a 2-0 ODI series victory over Bangladesh on Wednesday, South Africa have ousted India from the numero uno status in ICC ODI rankings, based on greater decimal points. But India have a chance to reclaim their top spot in the series against New Zealand scheduled to begin in Mumbai on October 22.

In his first innings of the tour, AB de Villiers scored his highest score in One-day International cricket to give South Africa a thumping win in the second ODI at Boland Park. De Villiers slapped his way to score a colossal 176 in just 104 balls to guide the hosts to a total of 353/6, before bowling Bangladesh out for 249. The 104-run victory not only made de Villiers' comeback a splendid occasion, it also helped the Proteas to pip India from the No.1 position in ICC ODI rankings.

According to the updated ICC ODI rankings, the Proteas now jumped to the top spot, sending India to the second spot. Although India and South Africa have identical 120 points, the latter are at the top position on the basis of decimal points.

India, who had claimed the top spot in the ICC rankings following their 4-1 win over Australia, will have a chance to reclaim their top spot in the three-match ODI series against New Zealand scheduled to begin in Mumbai on October 22.
