Steven Smith | I won’t be challenging the sanctions imposed by Cricket Australia
Disgraced Australian cricketer Steven Smith has gone on social media to reveal that he won’t be challenging the strict sanctions imposed by Cricket Australia on him. He also said that the sanctions given to him by the CA were to send a strong message to the world and he has totally accepted them.
Former Australian skipper Steven Smith was handed a 12-month ban by Cricket Australia after the entire ‘Sandpaper’ controversy. CA has also stated that Smith and his compatriot Bancroft would not be considered for leadership positions for a year after they finish serving their bans. Left-handed opener David Warner, who was also given a 12-month ban for his role in the entire ‘ball-tampering’ incident, would never be considered for a leadership position for the rest of his career.

However, Warner and Bancroft (nine-month suspension) are yet to announce whether they will contest their charges. CA confirmed that the hearings over the level-three charges and sanctions issued to Smith, Warner and Bancroft would take place - if needed - this week.
The trio has sought legal advice on whether to challenge their bans and Warner, in particular, has been understood to be particularly keen to put his case to an independent code-of-conduct commissioner.
