There are chances that England player Alastair Cook could miss the fourth Test against India in Southampton to be present during the birth of his third Child. In 2016-17, Alastair Cook had joined the team late on tour of Bangladesh to welcome his second child, Isobel coming to the world.

As Cook is contemplating his decision, as Daily Mail reported, Rory Burns of Surrey may get a chance to make his England Debut. He will most likely to replace Cook if he decides to skip the fourth Test.

Cook's wife Alice is predicted to go into labour around the starting of the match. Considering his absence can end his 157 Test appearance world record going on, he will have to think precisely before coming to a decision.

After Cook made an unbeaten 244 in Melbourne, he has not been able to exhibit any exceptional performances since then in the last 13 innings. Moreover, he is skeptical of handing over his place to new-comer Rory Burns. However, considering it is a big family matter, he will most likely contemplate missing the match to be present at such a significant event in his life.

His absence, however, could disrupt England's batting order as Keaton Jennings and Ollie Pope still trying to establish their ground in the Test format. Further Jonny Bairstow got injured during the third Test when he received a minor fracture on his left hand’s middle finger on the third morning of the Test in Nottingham.
