India vs Australia | Rain could play spoilsport in Melbourne; cost India Boxing Day Test
Rain prediction for Saturday and Sunday – the last two days of the ongoing Boxing Day Test match between India and Australia in Melbourne - could affect India’s chances. On day three, India decided not to enforce the follow on and is currently on 54/5 in the second innings with a lead of 346 runs.
According to the weather department, there are chances of precipitation in patches tomorrow and the day after in Melbourne and these are worrying signs for the Indian team and skipper Virat Kohli. With the match starting at 9 am local time, it might remain cloudy from the very beginning of the game at the MCG. There might be precipitation in patches throughout the fourth day of the Boxing Day Test and according to Accuweather.com, there are thunderstorm predictions at 10 am, 12noon and 2 pm tomorrow.
Rain might have an impact on the game on the final day as well. It is predicted that the sky will remain cloudy early in the morning session and rain might stop play as a thunderstorm is expected at around 10 am on the final day of the game.
After bowling Australia out for a mere 151 on Day 3, Virat Kohli opted to bat again and didn’t enforce a follow-on. Now, with the rain threat looming large over the Test match, it remains to be seen what India’s plans are going into the next two days of this game. However, overcast conditions might just help the Indian pacers to dominate and ask some tough questions to the Aussie batsmen whenever they will come out to bat for the final innings.
