Unable to give decision on Lodha recommendations within given time, says Sourav Ganguly

Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Sourav Ganguly said that they would be unable to implement the Lodha recommendations within the given time frame provided. Ganguly added that an additional SGM meeting would be required in order to discuss the fresh terms that the BCCI has put forward.

BCCI secretary Amitabh Chaudhary had recently sent a consolidated mail to all state associations like including the CAB and the Saurashtra CA headed by Madhukar Worah enquiring about the constitution change. The BCCI informed all associations that 13 units have decided to comply and filed an affidavit regarding the same.

However CAB president Sourav Ganguly has penned a mail in reply to the BCCI mail received earlier from Chaudhary, a copy of which is available with PTI, in which the veteran cricketer states that the CAB won’t be able to implement the Lodha recommendations due to time constraints.

"I beg to state that at the SGM held at Cricket Association of Bengal few months back, it was agreed by the members that in line with BCCI decision, affidavits will be filed in court addressing the honourable Supreme Court about difficulties in implementation of the order at state and BCCI level.

"The members at the Special General Meeting had taken a decision and it would take another SGM to address the issues mailed by you to the respective associations," Ganguly wrote.

Ganguly went on to add how there was no sufficient time to call another SGM in order to discuss the new issues that was mailed by secretary Chaudhary.

"We received your mail last week and there was no time to call another SGM to update the members of the new issues and then take a decision on it.

"We will be unable to give any decision on the clauses mentioned by you in your mail, within the stipulated time, as it will be against the constitution of the association, in regard to such a matter which affects everyone concerned," he added.

Saurashtra CA boss Madhukar Worah also faced difficulties regarding the same mail sent out by the BCCI as he penned one in return where he said that the parties involved will wait for a decision from the Supreme Court before making any changes.

"Therefore, at this stage the decision on the amendments to recommendations lies with Supreme Court and the same shall be debated before Hon'ble Supreme Court. Therefore at this stage, it is not really clear what is intended to be achieved by you in the exercise being conducted without force of rules and regulations.

"We believe, concerned member association/s will communicate and represent to the Hon'ble Supreme Court about difficulty or impracticability in the subject matter through a proper procedure," Worah wrote.
