Nidahas Trophy : Khaled Mahmud refuses to travel as Bangladesh team manager
Khaled Mahmud has denied travelling with the Bangladesh team as their team manager to Sri Lanka for the Nidahas Trophy. Earlier he had refused to be associated with the team due to their home series loss at the hands of SL last month but later changed his mind when the board requested him to do so.
The Nidahas Trophy is set to be scheduled to start on March 6 in Colombo. The T20 tri-series is set to feature India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka to mark Sri Lanka’s 70 years of independence. As the series is fast approaching Bangladesh's problems are ever increasing. As earlier during the team announcement, Shakib Al Hasan as the captain of the side but he would be available for the first few days of the tournament owing to the injury concerns.
Adding to this, Khaled Mahmud, Bangladesh team manager, has also refused to travel with the team to Sri Lanka for the upcoming tri-series.
"He(Mahmud) refused to travel as manager," BCB cricket operation chairman Akram Khan told Cricbuzz on Thursday.
"It is not yet finalized because he might change his decision if our president Nazmul Hasan ask him to reconsider his decision," added Khan.
When Bangladesh lost to Sri Lanka in the final of the tri-series involving Zimbabwe, Mahmud had refused to be associated with the Bangladesh team due to their disappointing 70-run loss in the final. Later he announced that he would change his mind only if the board asks him to do.
