While running between the wickets is a great skill to possess, the PSL has provided moments of absolute madness pertaining to it, on the pitch. Yesterday, Hussain Talat’s horrible misjudgment had not only left Andre Russell fuming but also led to a raucous cheer by the Lahore Qalandars’ owner.

Last night’s match between Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars had all the ebbs and flows of a cricket match as United edged past the Qalanders after dragging them to the super over – the first in PSL’s history. While the match was a frightening illustration of how low Qalandars' confidence had gone down after starting the tournament with three losses, it was not all gloomy for the franchise in the match - just don't look at the result.

After the dismissal of JP Duminy, all the hopes were pinned on Russell and the big-hitting Talat to guide the team to a good total, but the team's fortunes were reduced to a roll of dice when Russell was run-out by the combined effort of Yasir Shah and Sohail Khan in the penultimate over.

On the first ball of the over, Sohail Khan bowled a back of a length outside off delivery to which Talat punched it to the backward point. A single was surely on offer as Russell realized it, but for reasons only known to Talat, the latter decided not to move after taking a step out. By that time, Russell had already reached the striker’s end.

Sensing the opportunity coming on a platter, Yasir lobbed the ball back to Sohail, who did some theatrics before pulling off the run-out dismissal. The Caribbean all-rounder didn’t even try to return back to the crease and directly left for the dug-out with a frustrated reaction. While the judgment was terrible, it actually provided to be a funny moment for the spectators and the Qalandars’ owner alike, as the latter actually stood up and applauded after the big dismissal.

However, Russell got another opportunity to prove his worth and smashed 10 off the last two balls of Mustafizur Rehman's ball in the Super Over to lead United to victory.
