We have a lot to prove in the Nidahas Trophy, says Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah
Bangladesh's stand-in skipper Mahmudullah asserts that his side have a lot to prove in the upcoming tri-nation T20 Nidahas Trophy to be played against India and Sri Lanka this month. Mahmudullah adds that their opening match against India is the key to having a successful tournament outing.
The Bangladesh national team were handed a huge blow after the news of their skipper Shakib Al Hasan not being able to lead the side in the upcoming Nidahas Trophy broke out, as he failed to recover from a finger injury sustained in January. The 2-0 loss in the T20 series again Sri Lanka recently showed that the Bangladesh side still
"I think there are question marks over our strength and ability in this format, considering we did not play to our potential in the recent past," Mahmudullah said.
"This is a good platform for us to show our true potential and if we can bring out the best from everyone, we are hopeful that we can go a long way [in the series]. Our aim is to clinch the trophy. We must make sure [we don't forget] that we have a lot of things to prove," Mahmudullah told reporters on Sunday.

But skipper Mahmudullah reiterated that the team needs to have a good start in their opener against India in order to do well in the tournament.
"The first game is very important. If we can win the opening game we will pick the momentum early and it will be a driving factor as we progress in the tournament," he added.
