IPL 2018 | MS Dhoni has the capabilities to produce talented cricketers, says S Badrinath
Subramaniam Badrinath has praised MS Dhoni's leadership qualities and said that his capabilities to guide talents especially bowlers will be visible again in the upcoming Indian Premier League season. Ambati Rayudu has also talked about Dhoni’s captaincy and called him a “born leader”.
After serving a two-year ban for the involvement in the match-fixing scandal, Chennai Super Kings are ready to join the fray once again in the upcoming season of the cash-rich league. The Chennai-based franchise made their first move since their return to the league by retaining Dhoni and handing the responsibility of captaincy.
Manpreet Gony, Sudeep Tyagi, and Mohit Sharma are some players who polished their talent while playing under Dhoni. In this season, Chennai’s bowling department will see young pacers like Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Lungi Ngidi, and Mark Wood. Badrinath, who played for CSK believed that in the upcoming season of the league Dhoni will again be produced cricketers like Gony and Mohit.
"MS has the capabilities to produce (talented) cricketers. Someone like a Gony or Mohit, they went on to become the cricketers they were and it was MS who produced such cricketers. I wouldn't be surprised if MS produces such cricketers again. He analyses and assigns them specific roles and that is what makes MS standout as a leader. He identifies these cricketers, persists with them and ends up producing them," Badrinath said as quoted by TOI.
Balaji, who appointed as the bowling coach of the team and played for the CSK from 2008-10, claimed that like previous seasons, this year also the league will see new emerging bowlers under the former Indian skipper’s guidance and he compared Dhoni's style of working with swimming trainer.
"Dhoni doesn't involve much and only when a bowler is really thrown into a corner he takes over. He will give you challenges and let you be in your space to understand them. He will not compel a bowler to do something which is not the bowler's style. That I have experienced as a player. On the field, you will be handled by one of the greatest captains. Dhoni will give you the freedom. Apart from that, you will learn to swim on your own under Dhoni's leadership," Balaji said.
Ambati Rayudu had experience of playing 114 IPL games scoring 2416 runs which include 14 half-centuries. Rayudu, who was a part of the Mumbai Indians side that won the title last season, will be seen wearing the yellow jersey this time around. It will be the first time in his career that he will play for the Chennai team and he also lauded the wicketkeeper-batsman for his ability to make right decisions.
"He has been successful and won two World Cups for India. What more can a captain do? I think he has a knack
