IPL 2018 | Chennai will be playing with full intensity against Rajasthan, asserts Stephen Fleming

Though CSK need just one win from their remaining 4 matches to book a playoffs berth, Stephen Fleming has said that his side will not be complacent when they take on Rajasthan Royals in an IPL match on Friday. The CSK head coach has also hinted that they want Rahane's wicket early in the innings.

Rajasthan Royals will be turning up against in-form Chennai Super Kings in a do or die clash on Friday to keep their playoffs hope alive. The situation looks quite contrasting as Chennai need just one win from their remaining four games to seal a playoffs berth while RR has to win every match from here onwards. Giving his insights on the match, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming said that a team can be really dangerous in this type of scenarios and Chennai would play with full of intensity despite it looks easy for them to capture a berth in playoffs.

"The teams (like Rajasthan Royals) which are in a situation where they have to win each game can be dangerous. We would be playing with full intensity. We know we are a couple of games ahead but we don't want to be in a situation where we need to scrape through in last games. We will not be complacent," Fleming said at pre-match press conference, as reported by News18.

CSK are currently in second spot with 14 points from 10 matches. Fleming said there are not many areas of concern for his team but it's a question of getting better each game and finding the right balance. When asked about the pitch at Sawai Mansingh Stadium which has been slow and low, Fleming observed that though the nature of the pitch likely to stay the same, CSK have the all-round squad to match up against any surface.

"In the last couple of matches, this wicket had slow, low and variable pace. We have an-all round talent in our side suited to all type of conditions. We need to have the right combination to counter conditions," said Fleming.

Talking about Rajasthan Royals skipper Ajinkya Rahane, the New Zealander replied, they need to take the opposition captain’s wicket early as he can be steady the innings and others can bat around him. Having said that, he also added that it always feels nice to take the captain’s wicket in the early part of the innings.

"He is a fine player and is doing a nice job of captaining Rajasthan Royals. We would like to get him early because he can be a big influence for their innings,” said the former left-handed batsman.

"If he plays well there can be more freedom for the likes of Jos Butler and Stokes. He can be more attacking than what he looks like. It is always nice to have the captain early," concluded Fleming.
