Prithvi Shaw, who made a successful Test debut against Windies, has made a recovery from an elbow-injury and began training in the presence of batting-great, Sachin Tendulkar. Shaw is set to tour New Zealand with the India A team in the next few days under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane.

Prithvi Shaw built himself a stellar reputation after he scored a total of 237 runs in the two Test matches that he played against Windies last month. Deemed by many as one of the brightest prospects in international cricket, the Indian selectors have been cautious with the youngster and felt the need to ensure that he made the transition from A-list cricket to international cricket in his own time.

However, with such an exodus of talent under his belt, Prithvi Shaw, has firmly established himself as a frontrunner for a permanent spot in the Indian Test squad. The youngster, who suffered an elbow injury post the Windies series win, has recovered from the setback and began training for the Australia series in the presence of Indian batting legend - Sachin Tendulkar.

"Tendulkar, Prashant Shetty and Jagdish Chavan all gave throw-downs to him at MIG for about an hour. Tendulkar and Chavan gave throw-downs to him with a wet rubber ball on a tarpaulin (used to protect the wicket against rain), in order to prepare him for the Australian tour. Because of Prithvi, Tendulkar came about an hour early to MIG (the batting great is running the Tendulkar Middlesex Global Academy at MIG).

"Tendulkar was sharing a few tips with Shaw about batting in Australia too. Shaw has begun his routine by batting against the rubber ball on Monday and practiced on Wednesday (Diwali) too," a source told TOI on Wednesday.

Due to the injury, Shaw missed Mumbai's Ranji Trophy opener against Railways in New Delhi from November 1 to 4. The 18-year-old was hit on the elbow during the second Test by one of the Windies bowlers. The World Cup winner will travel to New Zealand to with the India A team under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane before he leaves to play in the series against Australia.
