Delhi Daredevils rearrange Pravin Amre’s role, hire Mohammad Kaif
Delhi Daredevils have decided to rearrange the role of Pravin Amre with the team and have roped in Mohammad Kaif into their staff as well. Previously Kaif had coached Gujarat Lions in the IPL and was appointed as an assistant coach of the franchise at Australian international cricket in 2017.
Mohammad Kaif, who played in 13 Tests and 125 ODIs in his career for India, recently announced his retirement from the game. Previously, for a year, he was serving as a fielding coach at Gujarat Lions - a now defunct IPL franchise. Currently, Pravin Amre was working as an assistant coach for Delhi Daredevils, however, from now on Kaif he will be monitoring for a talent scouts for the IPL franchise at DD.
Former Mumbai Coach Pravin Amre was himself excited for this existing role which would sadly end up with the team after the IPL auction. Previously, it has been reported that, DD's new part-owners, JSW have been keen to ring in a few changes ever since they acquired a stake in the franchise.
Soon after the JSW took over, the DD CEO Hemant Dua's position was replaced in the setup. It is also rumoured that the name of the team might resort to change.
“Nothing is finalised yet. We'll make the announcement when the time comes," said a DD official.
As far as IPL is concerned, Kaif piled his trade in 29 matches for Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore, but was not very convincing on the pitch, having scored only 259 runs at an average of 14.39.
