The Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) has named former South African all-rounder Lance Klusener as the consultant coach of the senior team for the upcoming Indian domestic season. Former Delhi captain Mithun Manhas has been appointed the chief coach of the team for the upcoming season.

The inclusion of Klusener, who has the experience of 171 ODIs with 3576 runs and 192 wickets to his name, to the support staff is expected to be an important addition for the Delhi side going into the new domestic season. The former South African all-rounder, who bagged Man of the Tournament award at 1999 World Cup, will act in the role of cricket consultant for the limited over format. Delhi will meet Saurashtra in their first elite Group A game on September 20.

“Lance Klusener will be Cricket Consultant of Ranji Team of DCCA for One day tournaments starting from 19th September ( Vijay Hazare trophy and Deodhar Trophy) and domestic T20 tournament scheduled in February 2019,” DDCA president Rajat Sharma said, reported PTI.

“His role will require his services along side the main coach and all the other coaches in the team."

Former Delhi batsman Manhas will take up the coaching responsibilities from KP Bhaskar. Manhas, who made his debut in Indian domestic cricket in 1997, played 157 first-class games for Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir and also has the experience of 130 List A games to his name.
