Bangalore’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium and Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium are the two stand-by venues chosen by the BCCI for the knockout stages if Chepauk stands fail to open. The TNCA still need to get a fit certificate for three stands I, J and K from the local municipal corporation.

Problems continue to persist for the Chennai Super Kings fans ever since last year when they completely lost hosting IPL matches because of a few political issues. Things were different this year as all home games are happening without any trouble. Unfortunately, they might miss watching IPL 2019 final and playoffs in their venue if they fell to complete certain criteria set by the BCCI.

Instead, Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi Stadium will remain as the stand by venue for the Indian Premier League’s playoff and the final on May 12 if the situation in Chepauk is not resolved soon.

“We will have discussions with TNCA as we don’t want to deprive Chennai Super Kings their right of playing at home. But three empty stands is an issue. Hyderabad and Bengaluru are the two standby venues for two playoffs, eliminator and final.

“The Players’ Association is expected to take shape in the next two weeks. The four-member committee has been told to expedite the process,” a senior Board of Control for Cricket in India official told PTI on Monday.

The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) has not been able to secure a fit certificate for three stands I, J and K from the local municipal corporation since 2012. BCCI officials have no intentions of taking away the home advantage for Chennai Super Kings but the three empty stands are a cause of concern.

“We will have discussions with TNCA as we don’t want to deprive CSK their right of playing at home. But three empty stands is an issue. Hyderabad and Bangalore are the two stand by venues for two play-offs, Eliminator and final,” a senior BCCI official told PTI on Monday.
