Duleep Trophy | Shubman Gill, Faiz Fazal, and Priyank Panchal to lead India Blue, Green, and Red

The BCCI have announced the teams for the Duleep Trophy and have choses Shubman Gill, Faiz Fazal, and Priyank Panchal to lead India Blue, Green, and Red respectively. The tournament will be played in Bangalore from August 17 to September 8 with many India aspirants finding a place in the side.

Duleep Trophy, as usual, will work as the curtain-raiser for the Indian domestic season with the tournament being played between BCCI senior selection committee-picked India Blue, India Green, and India Red respectively. However, the most striking aspect came out of the selection committee meeting was Gill’s appointment as India Blue skipper.

While Gill will be leading India Blue which also has the likes of India A and Vidarbha opener Ruturaj Gaikwad, Karnataka leg-spinner Shreyas Gopal, allrounder Jalaj Saxena, pacer Basil Thampi have also found places among others. Snell Patel has been picked as the designated wicketkeeper in the squad.

On the other hand, Vidarbha skipper Fazal, who led his team to their second consecutive Ranji title, will lead a 15-member India Green squad that has Dhruv Shorey, Siddesh Lad, Rahul Chahar and Jayant Yadav among others, with Akshay Wadkar carrying on the role of wicket-keeper.

In the Priyank Panchal-led India Red, Abhimanyu Easwaran will open the side which has the likes of Karun Nair, Ishan Kishan, Axar Patel, alongside Varun Aaron and Jaydev Unadkat. The tournament will be played in Bangalore from August 17 to September 8.
