WI vs IND | Kieron Pollard penalised for breaching ICC's Code of Conduct
Kieron Pollard, the Windies all-rounder, has been fined for “disobeying” the instructions given by on-field umpires during the 2nd T20I against India in Lauderhill on Sunday. He has been fined 20% of his match fee and received one demerit point for violating Level One of the ICC Code of Conduct.
The incident took place during the 1st innings when India was batting and according to a statement by the ICC, Pollard "called a substitute onto the field despite having been repeatedly told by the umpires that a request must be made for a substitute to come onto the field and being advised to wait until the end of the next over" and he "failed to follow the umpire's instructions".
Even after being charged with misconduct by the on-field umpires, Pollard denied his guilt in the matter and therefore he’ll have a final hearing with the match referee Jeff Crowe, who found him guilty and handed out the penalties.
The 32-year-old was found guilty in accordance with Article 2.4 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, with regard to not following the umpire's instruction.
India eventually won the 2nd T20I by 22 runs(DLS method) and hence the series by 2-0. The final T20I, which is a dead rubber, will be played on Tuesday.
