Tymal Mills and Tom Curran have suffered season-ending injuries as Surrey and Sussex have suffered a big setback in their respective T20 Blast campaigns. Curran will prepare himself for England's tour of New Zealand and South Africa later this year after recovering from the injury.

Mills has always been an injury-prone cricketer and a recent back injury has put him out of Sussex's campaign for the remainder of the T20 Blast. Mills already had some chronic thoracic problem on the middle region of the spine (from the base of the neck to the abdomen) and this additional back injury is sufficient to end his campaign. Sussex are at the top of the Group B table with six wins from 10 fixtures and Mills' absence may bring a dent to that.

Meanwhile, Tom Curran has also sustained a side injury in the match against Sussex and is subsequently ruled out of the rest of the season in order to rehabilitate and prepare himself for England's tour of New Zealand and South Africa later this year. Curran was part of England's squad in their successful World Cup campaign at home and will be looking to cement his spot in the side with some good performances and this injury surely came as a dent to his preparations for the future trips.

Mills is set to be replaced by Jason Behrendorff, who will sign as an overseas player, subject to international clearance after Rashid Khan left the club to go on international duty. Meanwhile, it came as a problem for Sussex as Rashid Khan has now departed for Afghanistan's tri-series against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, which means Sussex are without two key bowlers for the rest of the competition. Meanwhile, Jofra Archer is highly likely to miss the majority due to Ashes commitments.
