BBL 2019-20 | Faheem Ashraf and Usman Shinwari denied NOC for Big Bash League
PCB has denied NOC to Faheem Ashraf and Usman Shinwari to join the BBL as Ashraf was advised to focus on domestic cricket while Shinwari has been called up for the Sri Lanka series at home. Both the players, signed by the Melbourne Renegades, will be replaced by Richard Gleeson and Harry Gurney.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which has had a previous history of inconsistency in its policy for granting No Objection Certificates (NOC) to players to join foreign leagues, has refused to grant NOC two more players. Allrounder Faheem Ashraf and pacer Usman Shinwari have been denied permission to join the Big Bash League (BBL) in Australia.
Ashraf and Shinwari were signed by the Melbourne Renegades for their first eight and five matches respectively and were scheduled to leave for Australia next week. Ashraf was omitted from the final World Cup squad earlier this year and hasn’t featured for the subcontinental side since then.
A PCB source, according to an Indian Express report, shared that the PCB has advised Ashraf to focus on domestic cricket while Shinwari has been roped in for the home series against Sri Lanka. The Renegades have replaced the Pakistani duo with a couple of English pacers, Richard Gleeson and Harry Gurney.
