When Pakistan step onto the field, the spectators know they are in for something special. While they have often been at the wrong side of those moments, yesterday was a welcome break from the norm as it was Tabraiz Shamsi who left himself embarrassed after celebrating a dismissal on a no-ball.

How do you explain Pakistan? Sometimes they are the butt of jokes and at other times, throwing jokes into others’ faces. They are master at both the tricks equally and Asif Ali should feel lucky that he was a part of the second and not the first. South Africa, on the other hand, were left to rue their luck in the second T20I.

In the 17th over of the second T20I between Pakistan and South Africa, Beuran Hendricks bowled a short ball and Ali was pretty late on the pull. The late reaction on the ball and the huge revs imparted by Hendricks resulted in Ali top-edging a delivery towards short fine leg where Tabraiz Shamsi was stationed.

It was an easy catch for Shamsi, but he somehow made it look difficult by grabbing it in an untidy manner. Whatever it was, after getting under the catch, he started celebrating it like there was no tomorrow and imitated Virat Kohli’s “high-flying” celebration with a triumphant finger towards the crowd. The other teammates joined him to celebrate Ali’s dismissal, but the Pakistani was completely unfazed by the happenings surrounding him and was tying his shoelace.

Seeing that, South Africa waited for a moment and then they realised that it was a no-ball given Hendricks had unleashed his second short ball of the over. It left Shamsi rue his celebration as he returned back to the fielding position to wait for the next catch.
