DRS is often a lifesaver for many teams but sometimes when players ponder too much on whether to take a review or not, they might end up conceding runs. That’s what happened when Chittagong Vikings skipper Mushfiqur Rahim ended up conceding an overthrow for the same.

The Bangladesh Premier League has entered the latter stages of the competition as Dhaka Dynamites outplayed Chittagong Vikings in the eliminator on Monday. Sunil Narine starred for Shakib Al Hasan’s team as he scored a 16-ball 31 to power his team to victory and secure a spot in qualifier number two against Rangpur Riders.

It was just not meant to be for the Vikings as they succumbed to a six-wicket loss against the Dynamites at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. Luck was not on the visiting team’s side and that was evident during the second innings as well.

The incident in question occurred in the 16th over of the Dynamites’ innings with Kieron Pollard at the crease and Abu Jayed with the ball. Pollard swung at the ball early and missed it completely but the ball ended up hitting him on the thigh pad and deflecting away. While the batsmen crossed over for a single Rahim and Jayed started discussing whether or not to go for the review and the duo failed to back the throw at the stumps. As the ball went across the stumps the batsmen went off for another run with Rahim and Jayed staring at each other, trying to figure out what had just happened.

Eventually, Rahim did go for the review with a smile on his face as he knew that he was just delaying the inevitable. The replays showed that the ball was well above the stumps to virtually signal the end of the game.
