VIDEO | Kuldeep Yadav’s “not certain” remark saves India a review
It is extremely rare to see MS Dhoni asking a spinner where the impact had come before asking his captain to go for a decision review. However, that was exactly the case in Hamilton today as Dhoni asked Kuldeep Yadav about the impact and when the latter said, “not sure”, India opted against it.
MS Dhoni’s command over DRS is so strong that he very rarely misses anything that happens on the pitch. But as is the case in sports even the best in the business can falter from time to time.
In the 8th over of the Kiwi innings, Kuldeep bowled a full delivery on the stumps and hardly got any purchase from the wicket. However, Seifert had premeditated the shot and decided to go for a reverse sweep, but it was too full to give him time to even attempt the shot. As a result, he missed it altogether and Dhoni was loud in his appeal as well but the umpire turned it down.
The former Indian skipper, however, was also not sure about the impact and asked Kuldeep “Kanha Laha He” twice, which can be translated to “where did the ball hit the batsman?”. Rohit Sharma also joined the former Indian skipper immediately and asked, “Samne Laga hai kya” which can be translated to “Did it hit him in front?”
Kuldeep was uncertain about it and as he said he was not sure about it, Rohit opted against the DRS which proved to be a good decision as the ball had actually come off the gloves.
