India vs Australia | Ability to use the crease makes Kuldeep Yadav special, asserts Bharat Arun
India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun has heaped praises on Kuldeep Yadav after his brilliant performance in the first innings in the ongoing Sydney Test. The bowling coach has stated that it is the ability to use the crease by the chinaman bowler which makes him a special cricketer.
Playing his first Test Down Under, left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav has impressed one and all with his exceptional show in the first innings of the final Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The chinaman bowler managed to scalp five wickets in the innings to ensure that Australia gets bowled out for a mere 300 and India enforced a follow-on. Yadav finished with brilliant figures of 5/99 in the 31.5 overs that he bowled.
India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun expressed his happiness after the performance of the 24-year-old and said that youngster is a special bowler in the international circuit at the moment.
“Kuldeep is a very skill full bowler as he has proved it. He has had a very successful stint in ODIs, and probably he is the number one bowler in the one-day format. He is unique in the sense that very few chinaman bowlers around the world at the moment. Also, he brings googly to the fore. And what makes him even more special is his ability to use the crease. He can bowl from over and round the wicket, and he can bowl closer to the wicket and also from wide of the crease. That gives him a
“He didn’t have a great outing in England when he played, but this Test match would give him a lot of confidence. And considering a spinner and his age, I think he has got a lot of cricket left in him.”
There was a lot of discussion about the pitch and the playing conditions before the game and the Indian think-tank went ahead with two proper spinners Kuldeep and Ravindra Jadeja along with a part-timing option in the form of Hanuma Vihari in the playing XI. The bowling coach did speak about the inclusion of another spinner for the last Test in Sydney.
“Earlier we had played a practice game at Sydney and also the T20 match. So we were quite aware of the conditions that existed and also we felt that if at all we need to play two spinners that would be at Sydney.”
India decided not to enforce a follow-on in the Boxing Day Test match at the MCG and went on to give a bit of rest to its bowlers with one game still to go in the four-match Test series. On the other hand, Virat Kohli went ahead to enforce a follow-on this time around keeping the weather forecast for the fourth and fifth day in mind. India is already having an unassailable lead of 2-1 in the series and the visitors will certainly look forward to making it 3-1 at the end of the ongoing Sydney Test.
