VIDEO | MS Dhoni wields his bat in the middle of the pitch to signal Rohit Sharma to run
MS Dhoni and theatrics go hand in hand and the wicket-keeper batsman pulled that off once again to make Rohit Sharma alert today. After seeing Sharma not in the position to go for the run, Dhoni started wielding his bat like Ravindra Jadeja to signal the Indian vice-captain to go the run.
The absence of MS Dhoni from international cricket means we were deprived of some funny moments on the field in the last couple of months. And today as Dhoni made a comeback to the national side, his quips and antics are back without any filter. After his mastery in the DRS decision, he emulated Ravindra Jadeja on the field and used the latter’s bat-wielding exercise to alert Rohit.
The incident took place in the 29th over of India’s run-chase as the former Indian skipper prodded a Jason Behrendorff delivery, which angled into the hips, towards the on-side with soft hands. While Dhoni was suffering from a hip injury that he pulled up after a dive, Rohit thought a run was not possible in that scenario.
Despite that Rohit just took off from his crease and stopped after running for a second or two, but by then, Dhoni was already near him. He wielded his bat like Jadeja does after scoring a 50 or 100 to signal his partner that he should run fast. Rohit instantly got the clue and completed the run to mark him safe.
