Board of Control for Cricket in India acting President C K Khanna has urged the Committee of Administrators to allow Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul to play until the enquiry against them is completed. Khanna also refused to convene a special General meeting citing the matter as sub-judice.

While Khanna denied convening the Special General Meeting, he also urged to take a quick decision on the "Koffee with Karan" controversy so as to not create further problems for already banned players. Rahul and Pandya were in Australia but were called back to India after the show was aired. They were also replaced in the Indian squad for the series against Australia and New Zealand by Vijay Shankar and Shubman Gill.

"I urge for a meeting/discussion between Committee of Administrators and the office bearers to resolve this issue on priority. What Mr Hardik Pandya said and Mr K.L. Rahul acted as a bystander is inappropriate and absolutely wrong, but in my personal opinion, to treat them like lawbreakers are wrong too," Khanna stated as reported by PTI.

The players have already been served show-cause notices twice and they have apologised unconditionally for their comments. But, their fate still hangs in balance as the BCCI itself is in a big mess right now.

"They made a mistake, and they have already been suspended and called back from the series against Australia. They have also submitted an unconditional apology. For the interest of the Indian cricket in mind, the deplorable off ground activity of the players requires immediate corrective action but we must not keep their careers in limbo.

"I suggest that pending inquiry we reinstate both the cricketers into the Indian squad immediately and allow them to join the team in New Zealand at the earliest," said Khanna.

Khanna also decided against convening special General meeting for the appointment of an ombudsman. He has justified his decision by stating that the matter is still pending the Supreme Court.

"As per constitution of the BCCI, an ombudsman can be appointed at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). And moreover, the matter (appointment of ombudsman) is already sub-judice," Khanna replied to Chaudhry.

Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul were banned pending enquiry for their comments on a television show. The Committee of Administrators(CoA) wants to make a decision on the quantum of punishment for the players for which an ombudsman is needed but since the matter is sub-judice, Khanna has refused a convene a meeting.
