Nasser Hussain believes despite the growing importance of batsmen in modern-day ODI cricket, it is the team with the best bowling attack that will win the World Cup. Viv Richards has stated that the white-ball game has come a long way since their own playing days and it is totally different now.

After the new power play rule and the usage of two new balls in ODI cricket, the format has gone through a massive transformation and 350 has become new 300 now. England have been the major proponent of the new culture and their batting-heavy side have the ability to chase down any amount of total on a given day.

Hussain, however, believes that the format still has the appetite for the bowlers and the team with a better bowling attack will come out as the winners.

"The game has gone too far in favour of the batsmen. One-day cricket should slightly favour them but in the last couple of years, every law has been changed to favour the batsmen. Credit must go to the batsmen no doubt, every nation has good and powerful batsmen,” Hussain said in India Today-Salam Cricket Conclave.

“But I still believe the best bowling attack will win you the World Cup. Already in this tournament, we have seen a green pitch, a bouncy pitch and a flat pitch. It's not just about the batsmen, a team with the balance bowling attack will be very hard to beat," he added.

Richards also agreed with Hussain and stated that the white-ball game has come a long way since their own playing days and bowlers need to be given equal opportunity.

"Bowlers should be given an equal opportunity like batsmen themselves. When I see a 65-yard six hit off a top edge, it makes me think it's a batsman's game".
