Sourav Ganguly and Sanjay Manjrekar have been added to the ICC commentary panel for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2019 which is scheduled to be played in England & Wales from May 30 onwards. Nasser Hussain, Ian Bishop, Melanie Jones, and Kumar Sangakkara are also part of the star-studded panel.

Former India cricketers Sourav Ganguly and Sanjay Manjrekar have been added to International Cricket Council’s (ICC) prestigious commentary panel ahead of the start of this year’s World Cup, which is scheduled to be played in England and Wales from May 30 onwards.

The line-up of international commentators include the likes of Nasser Hussain, Ian Bishop, Melanie Jones, Kumar Sangakkara, Michael Atherton, Alison Mitchell, Brendon McCullum, Graeme Smith along with Pakistan’s Wasim Akram as well.

“The whole of England and Wales is buzzing with excitement in anticipation of the massive summer of cricket ahead. This edition of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup promises to be the most entertaining one yet and I cannot wait to be part of this event broadcast and witness history in the making, first hand,” former England batsman Nasser Hussain said as per ANI sources.

Some of the other commentators in the panel include Australia’s Michael Clarke, South Africa’s Shaun Pollock, Michael Slater, Mark Nicholas, Michael Holding, Isa Guha, Pommie Mbangwa along with the effervescent Harsha Bhogle.

“There is an intense sense of anticipation for this year’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup amongst players and fans alike. The round-robin format pitting each nation against each other, added with the strength of all ten teams, will no doubt result in the most competitive and closely fought World Cup to date. Add to that the chance of first time World Cup winner and it’s as exciting as the possibility of numerous upsets throughout,” Melanie Jones added.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan pacer and 1992 World Cup winner - Wasim Akram - added that the format for the upcoming global showpiece resembles that of the 1992 tournament which he opines is the best format as far as ‘equality amongst teams’ is concerned.

“The upcoming Cricket World Cup has the same format as in 1992. It is the best format as teams get more chances and I reckon all teams will have an equal chance to qualify for the semi-finals. A World Cup comes every four years so players wait for it and do their best to give a memorable performance. I hope we are going to see some stiff competition with the edge of the seat thrillers, high skills and unmatched moments with the best players of the world on show,” Akram added.
