For the very first time in his career, Sachin Tendulkar is going to make an appearance in the commentary box through his very own segment 'Sachin Opens Again' during the pre-match show. He will be joined by an already illustrious panel of experts provided by host broadcaster Star Sports.

After retiring from cricket in late 2013, Tendulkar has had a constant presence every year during the IPL and has even acted as a member of Cricket Advisory Committee to keep himself active in cricket. However, he hadn’t given into commentary while his contemporaries - Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag and Anil Kumble - have made it their profession.

However, six years after leaving cricket for good, Tendulkar is going to be a part of the commentary box with the World Cup beginning on Thursday in England and Wales. Tendulkar will grace the commentary box during the tournament opener between England and South Africa to be played at The Oval, London.

The former Indian opener will join the Star Sports’ Cricket Live pre-show in Hindi and English at 1.30 p.m. with his very own segment 'Sachin Opens Again' and will be joined by a panel of experts.

When it comes to the World Cup, Tendulkar holds a number of World Cup records and scored 2,278 runs in the six editions of the World Cup he played. In the 2003 World Cup, Sachin made the record for scoring the highest number of runs in a single edition of the World Cup - 673 in 11 matches, but that ended in disappointment as India lost the final to Australia comprehensively.
