Sarfaraz Ahmed needs to focus on domestic cricket to get back into national team, advises Imran Khan
Pakistan Primer Minister Imran Khan has advised Sarfaraz Ahmed to focus on domestic cricket to get back to the national team. Khan, a former captain and the patron-in-chief of Pakistan Cricket Board, has also backed Misbah-ul-Haq's dual appointment as the head coach and chief selector.
While it is true that T20 is not a proper ruler by which to measure a player, but a 0-3 whitewash at home in a T20 series to a weak Sri Lankan team was the limit in Sarfaraz’s case. But all is not lost for Sarfaraz, who can make his way back into the mix by performing at the rejuvenated domestic level, or at least, Khan thinks so.
"I don't think the performance and form of a player should be judged by T20 cricket but through Test and One-day cricket. He can come back to the national team, he should focus on domestic cricket," Khan told PTI.
Meanwhile, Khan also believes that the move to appoint Misbah at the helm of the team will do good to Pakistan cricket in the long run.
"It is a constructive move to appoint Misbah as he is an honest and unbiased personality who has loads of experience behind him. I think Misbah will turn out to be a good choice and Pakistan will improve and do well in Test and ODI cricket under him. He has this talent in him that he can groom the players and also improve their performance," Khan added.
