Former Pakistan skipper Mohammad Yousuf has criticized Misbah-ul-Haq’s dual role as coach and selector. Misbah, who was recently appointed as the head coach of the Pakistan team, is facing stiff opposition from several former cricketers who are demanding that he chooses one role over the other.

It has been an eventful couple of months for cricket in Pakistan, as major structural changes were made to the team management and the personnel who were in charge of it. At the end of it all Misbah up Haq, a from a player with no documented coaching experience was named as the head coach of the team. As if that were not enough he was also hande a seat at the selector's table. This move seemed to have angered many who think it is impractical for one person to fulfill both these roles.

“The head coach will be with the national team then how would he be able to watch first-class players with his own eyes? The chief selector will have to rule on the basis of scorecards or through what the provincial coaches feed him. So if provincial coaches have to do all the work then what was the need of a chief selector?” Yousuf said. As reported by Geo TV.

Many including Yousuf feel that Waqar Younis, who was a former coach of the team, would have been a better choice for the role. Incidentally had to settle for the post of bowling coach this time around.
