A 27-page code was approved in Board of Governors' last meeting, which could put an end to remove multiple roles held by the officials in the cricketing board. Misbah-ul-Haq and Wasim Akram might have to step down from their roles at the PCB or with their respective franchises in PSL.

Misbah too comes under the scanner for his dual role

PCB’s expansion of a new ethics code would put an end to either of Misbah-ul-Haq’s or Wasim Akram’s multiple roles in the Pakistan cricketing setup. The 27-page code, according to Hindustan Times, was approved in the PCB’s Board of Governors’ last meeting, which covers every individual working with both the national team and the PSL franchises.

While Misbah serves as the national team’s head coach and selector, he also has his coaching duties set out with Islamabad United in Pakistan’s T20 competition. Meanwhile, Akram who is part of the board’s cricket committee also works with the PSL outfit Karachi Kings. However, once this rule is clarified and enforced, the two of them would have to be satisfied with one of their dual roles.

“Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ehsan Mani wanted a new ethics code as in recent years there have been numerous complaints and issues of multiple roles by its officials, employees or members leading to a conflict of interest situation in their respective roles,” said the source.

On the other hand, Pakistan’s former women’s team captain Bismah Maroof too would not be spared for having multiple roles as a member of the cricketing committee alongside heading the PCB women’s wing and chief selector for women’s cricket.

“All such people who are doing dual jobs/roles and there is an element of conflict of interest in their roles will have to now give up one or two of their roles,” the official added.
