Gautam Gambhir has applauded BCCI’s forward-thinking saying even though two weeks of quarantine is required, an India-Australia series can uplift the morale of both nations. Gambhir has also added that it is good on BCCI’s part that they are looking at the bigger picture ahead of their own benefit.

BCCI Treasurer Arun Dhumal earlier revealed that the Indian team is ready to play an extra game against Australia and might take the path of two-week quarantine if they have to in order to facilitate the series. CA is going through a huge financial crisis and an India series cancellation might potentially spell a big disaster, something that BCCI is concerned about. Gautam Gambhir is thrilled to know the news and applauded the BCCI for agreeing to such a decision.

"Good on BCCI, fabulous. Good on them. This is a very very positive sign because I think they are looking at a far bigger picture, that it will change the mood of the entire country as well. "It is not only about winning series in Australia, which is very very important. But it will change the mood of both the countries as well, not only India, but probably for Australia as well,” Gambhir said on a show ‘Cricket Connected'.

“And then you have got to be a statesman as well, when BCCI, they are probably the richest board and probably the most powerful board in the world, so they need to look at a bigger picture as well and that is what probably they have done. If India look to tour Australia, I have got a lot of respect for the BCCI.”

While Cricket Australia requested the BCCI for an extra Test match, Dhumal suggested the idea of playing a few more limited-overs matches which can drive finances into their system. A clear decision is yet to be taken though.
