Table-toppers Lucknow Super Giants will play against Mumbai Indians in match no. 26 of the IPL 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on April 16. Lucknow is coming into the contest on the back of a three-run loss against Rajasthan while Mumbai also lost their last game against Punjab by 12 runs.
Lucknow Super Giants will look to grab a couple of points and better their position in the points table, whereas Mumbai Indians on the other hand will try to revive their campaign with a win against a strong team like LSG.
In their last match, LSG bowled first and restricted the opposition to a total of 165/6. Krishnappa Gowtham was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets for 30 runs. In response, LSG lost wickets at regular intervals but Marcus Stoinis played a knock of unbeaten 38 runs from 17 balls. He played a good knock but that was not enough to prevent the team from losing and they ended up on 162/8. For LSG, Stoinis will add to the batting depth in the upcoming matches but the middle-order lacks experience and so he can be promoted in the batting order.
Mumbai Indians have continued their disappointing form and lost the last game against Punjab Kings by 12 runs. Batting first PBKS smashed a total of 198/5 courtesy of 70 runs from Shikhar Dhawan. Jasprit Bumrah was the most economical bowler as he picked a single wicket conceding only 28 runs. In response, MI could muster up a total of 186/9. For MI, the lack of runs from Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard is hampering their campaign, also bowling looks to be the weakest area and they need to improve on that.
LSG lost their first game of the tournament against Gujarat Titans and then won three matches in a row. However, they lost their last game against Rajasthan Royals by three runs. MI have been on a losing streak suffering defeat in the first five matches and they need to revive themselves.
Head to Head
LSG are playing their debut season and so these two teams haven’t played against each other.
Best Betting Tip
Suryakumar Yadav has smashed 163 runs in three matches so far in IPL 2022 at an impressive average of 81.50. Also, his average in seasons 2018,2019 and 2020 has been at least above 30
Lucknow Super Giants looks a strong outfit from how they have played in the tournament so far. LSG have a strong batting unit and bowling is the most vulnerable area for MI right now. Hence, considering that it is likely that LSG will outplay their opponents in this game.
