Wriddhiman Saha has taken the No-Objection Certificate from the Cricket Association of Bengal to join the Tripura state team in domestic cricket. The CAB and Tripura Cricket Association confirmed the news on Saturday, and the wicket-keeper will now serve as the mentor-cum-captain for his new team.

Wriddhiman Saha is no longer available to represent Bengal in domestic cricket as he took No-Objection Certificate from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) on Saturday. He will now represent Tripura as their new mentor-cum-captain, both CAB and Tripura Cricket Association confirmed the development.

Saha's separation was on the cards since February when CAB joint-secretary Debabrata Das publicly accused Saha of giving 'all sorts of excuses' to 'skip' Ranji Trophy matches. Saha did not like that, and asked for an apology.

"For me, too, it is a very sad feeling that I have to go through something like this after playing for Bengal for so long," Saha told Sportstar last month regarding the matter.

However, Das did not think he was wrong and as a result, the veteran wicket-keeper asked to leave the state team.

"Mr Wriddhiman Saha came to CAB and in an application to President Avishek Dalmiya sought the NOC from the association," the CAB said in a statement. "CAB gave concurrence to the request of Mr Saha and provided the NOC to him for playing for another state. CAB also wished him the very best for his future endeavours."

Saha has played 122 First-Class matches for Bengal, aggregating 6423 runs at an average of 41.98. He has hit 13 centuries and 38 half-centuries so far.
