13 years after the iconic six and lifting the World Cup on the hallowed balconies of Wankhede, MS Dhoni created another historic moment on Sunday as his farewell gift to Mumbai. The former Indian skipper smashed Hardik Pandya for three sixes on the trot to end up on 20 off four balls.

Chennai Super Kings capitalized on the opportunity to bat first against Mumbai Indians by putting up a daunting total of 206/4 in their 20 overs. While the innings were set up by explosive half-centuries from skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube, it took a trademark MS Dhoni cameo to provide the finishing touches and blow the roof off the Wnkhede stadium with deafening decibel levels.

The 42-year-old came out to bat with just four balls remaining in the innings following Daryl Mitchell's departure to Hardik Pandya's bowling. The Mumbai skipper delivered a ball right in the slot to the veteran first up and Dhoni exploited the chance by heaving it over long-on for six, producing an almost perfect replica of the shot that had sealed India the World Cup in 2011. Hardik failed to learn from his mistake and delivered a length ball that was again deposited with disdain, only flatter and sweeter. Severely under the pump, the bowler responded with a full toss on the legs and Dhoni effortlessly swiped at it to send it hurtling into the crowd at square leg.

Dhoni swung hard again on the fourth delivery but this time was beaten by lack of pace as the under edge rolled past the keeper and earned him two more runs to take his score to 20 off four deliveries. Twitterati was stunned by the clinical showcase put up by Thala and lauded the legend for rolling back the years in such iconic fashion.

Thala rocked it!
