A Yorker is like a punchline to a joke; perfectly timed and devastatingly effective. A similar thing was witnessed at the Chepauk between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad where Matheesha Pathirana’s excellent yorker rattled Aiden Markram and uprooted the middle stump in Chennai.

Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered a rocky start losing their top three batters within the powerplay while chasing a challenging target of 213 runs. Chennai's pace sensation, Tushar Deshpande, showcased his skills with the ball claiming the vital wickets of Travis Head, Anmolpreet Singh, and Abhishek Sharma. However, Aiden Markram and Nitish Kumar Reddy provided some stability to the Sunrisers' innings pushing the score to 53/3 by the end of the powerplay. Markram, in particular, appeared to be finding his rhythm at the crease until Matheesha Pathirana delivered a brilliant ball that turned the tide.

On the fifth ball of the 11th over, Pathirana unleashed a lightning-fast yorker clocked at 147 kmph. Despite the 29-year-old South African attempting a forceful shot towards long on, he misjudged the delivery's trajectory resulting in the ball crashing onto the stumps. The sheer velocity of the delivery left the middle stump uprooted leaving the Proteas to trudge back to the dugout disheartened by his dismissal.

The cricketing community on Twitter showered praise on Pathirana for his exceptional bowling skills.
