Men’s Hundred | Twitter reacts to Curran brothers romp Invincibles to top of the table
The Oval Invincibles defeated the Southern Brave in the clash of the table-toppers to sit at the top of the charts with ten points. While Tom Curran bagged a four-for to reduce the visitors to 118, Sam Curran’s couple of wickets coupled with a bashing 38 set up a scintillating chase in London.
Following a delayed toss due to the Women’s encounter finishing late due to rain, the Oval Invincibles won the toss and elected to field first. Pacers Spencer Johnson and the Curran brothers kept the opposition in check with a couple of early breakthroughs inside the 15-run powerplay. The introduction of spinners further pushed them on the back foot before Kieron Pollard and James Vince stitched a 58-run fifth-wicket stand before Sam Curran returned to end Pollard’s stay for 18. However, Vince continued merry-making with the bat, smashing his third consecutive half-century. With the score reading 90/5 in 85 balls, the lower order failed to capitalize with Tom snaring a four-for to reduce the Brave’s to 118/8 in 100 balls.
In reply, Will Jacks kicked off the chase with a six before Craig Overton had the last laugh in the same over itself. Dawid Malan was rocked on the back foot, with the Brave bowlers challenging the edges of the blade continuously. At one point in time, he faced ten dots on a trot against Chris Jordan and Craig Overton before succumbing to the exerting pressure for 31-ball 14 in the tenth set. With the score reading 43/2 midway through the innings, Jordan Cox and Sam Curran accelerated the chase with six sixes and a couple of fours in the next 14 balls before Akeal Hosein got the better of the all-rounder for 18-ball 35. With 18 needed from the last five sets, the hosts lost Sam Billings on the 79th ball off Tymal Mills before Cox and Donavon Ferreira steered the Invincibles past the finishing line with six wickets and 15 balls to spare.

Test only!
That innings from Malan was painful. 14 off 31 would be slow in the test team these days let alone the hundred 😂😂
