The evolution of shorter formats in cricket has seen an increased number of boundaries with huge sixes being normal. However, a gigantic six off Phil Salt’s bat against his KKR teammate and strike bowler Mitchell Starc, gained attention as it turned out to be the biggest six of the tourney.

Winning the toss and electing field first did not produce favourable results for England as the openers David Warner and Travis Head ripped apart the new ball bowlers to pile up 70 runs in five overs. The Aussie middle and lower order continued the momentum and together, they stitched the first-ever 200-plus total in the World Cup. In response, the English openers got off to a similar start with Phil Salt smacking a 106-meter gargantuan six off Mitchell Starc to bring the spectators alive.

Following a dot and a single off the first couple of deliveries, Starc bowled a fuller one at the middle stump that Salt picked up early and whipped it over widish long on for a huge six. The connection off the blade was so sweet that the white rock sailed a long way into the top tier at the Hall and Griffith stand. With the replays confirming it to be a 106-meter biggie, the Twitterverse erupted in awe.
