Delhi Capitals beat Chennai Super Kings by 20 runs in Visakhapatnam. Chasing a total of 192 runs, CSK were off to a terrible start but later failed to build substantial partnerships in the middle and did not capitalize on some great bowling by Delhi bowlers, especially Mukesh Kumar’s three-fer.

The spotlight turned to Visakhapatnam for the 13th match of the IPL, featuring a clash between the Delhi Capitals and table-toppers Chennai Super Kings. Delhi skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to bat, sending Warner and Prithvi Shaw to open the innings. The pair got off to a flying start, propelling their team to 62/0 by the end of the powerplay. Warner reached his half-century in 31 deliveries, steering Delhi to a commanding 91/0 after nine overs. However, the momentum swung in favour of CSK as both openers fell in quick succession in the 10th and 11th over. The Delhi batting line-up faltered further when Chennai's pace sensation Matheesha Pathirana claimed the wickets of Mitchell Marsh and Tristan Stubbs, leaving the Capitals at 134/4 after 15 overs. Nevertheless, Pant showcased his vintage form, notching up his half-century in just 31 deliveries towards the latter stages of Delhi's innings. With Pant's late flourish, the hosts posted a formidable total of 191/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

The Super Kings’  batting endured its poorest powerplay display of the season as they stepped onto the pitch to chase 192. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra, the openers, were dismissed in the third and fourth overs respectively, leaving CSK struggling at 32/2 after six overs. With Ajinkya Rahane and Daryl Mitchell at the crease, the visitors managed to reach 75/2 by the 10th over. However, the partnership was broken by Delhi's star all-rounder Axar Patel, who dismissed Mitchell in the eleventh over. Rahane then took charge of the CSK innings alongside Shivam Dube, guiding their side to 101/3 by the 13th over. Rahane's departure after a commendable 45 off 30 deliveries brought further woes for Chennai as Sameer Rizvi fell in the 14th over, leaving Ravindra Jadeja and Dube to rebuild. Unfortunately, Dube's innings was short-lived as he departed in the 17th over off a Mukesh Kumar off-cutter. The entry of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, greeted with excitement by the Vizag crowd, sparked hope for Chennai. Dhoni kickstarted his innings with a boundary off Mukesh Kumar's over, followed by three sixes in his cameo of 37 off 16. An excellent 19th over from Mukesh curtailed the equation to 41 runs needed off the final over, and eventually CSK lost the match by 21 runs.
