Kohli, Rohit slip further as Pant and Jadeja rise in latest ICC Test rankings
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s latest ICC Test rankings have slipped following their recent performances against New Zealand. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant has made a significant leap, climbing five spots to secure sixth place in the Test Rankings, bringing him close to his career-best ranking of fifth.
In contrast, Pant’s consistent half-centuries in the series propelled him five spots to sixth in the Test Batter rankings, nearing his career-best position of fifth, held last in July 2022. The top five Test batters are currently led by Joe Root, whose double-century in Pakistan solidified his top spot, followed by Kane Williamson, Harry Brook, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Steve Smith.
Ravindra Jadeja jumped two places to sixth with a standout 10-wicket haul against New Zealand. Washington Sundar also advanced, moving up seven spots to 46th among Test bowlers.
New Zealand saw notable gains, with Daryl Mitchell climbing eight places to seventh in the Test Batting Rankings after his impressive 82 in Mumbai, while Player of the Series Will Young moved up 29 spots to 44th. New Zealand’s spinners also improved, with Ajaz Patel rising 12 spots to 22nd and Ish Sodhi advancing to 70th.
Elsewhere, South African spinner Keshav Maharaj reached 19th after his 13-wicket haul against Bangladesh. In the ODI rankings, Shai Hope climbed five places to 12th following his century against England, while Liam Livingstone surged 32 spots to 58th.
